Turgenev's play is a delightful confection - putting raw emotion up against the rigours of society and the practicality of humankind.

Peter Dinklage and Taylor Schilling are heading for A Month in the Country, Ivan Turgenev's steamy comedy about the arrival of a young, handsome tutor to the Isanev country house in the 1840s, and the effect he has on all of the inhabitants. Directed by Erica Schmidt for revival by Classic Stage Theatre Company, this strictly limited run is bound to be 2015's first major success.
A young, bored house-wife Natalya Isanev (Schilling) languishes on the country estate of her rich older, husband. She whiles away the time encouraging her devoted friend Mikhail Rakitin (Dinklage) to fall further for her for her entertaiment. When 21 year old Aleksei Belyaev comes to the teach her young son for the summer, passion sizzles, especially when Vera, her teenage foster daugther also develops an interest in the new arrival.
This comedic look at love, unrequieted and returned warns of the perils of getting exactly what you wished for...
