Named after an anthology of poems by Goethe, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra was formed in 1999 by the world renowned conductor Daniel Barenboim and American intellectual Edward Said. Upholding their mission to promote peaceful coexistence and intercultural dialogue, the ensemble consists of members hailing from Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Spain. Don't miss them as they bring the music of Schubert and Mendelssohn to the stage during a series of US tour dates.
Led by its concertmaster, violinist Michael Barenboim, the Ensemble will perform works by Schubert, Brahms, and Mendelssohn as well as new work by Benjamin Attahir.
