Darlene Love

October 9, 2017

As one of the biggest voices of the 60s, Darlene Love lent her pipes to everyone from Dionne Warwick to The Beach Boys and featured on some of the decades most unforgettable songs. Even when she wasn't credited (here's looking at you, Phil Spector) her unmistakable vocal was able to get people to stop and pay attention.

In 2009, Billboard Magazine named Boney James the Jazz Musician of the Decade and the tremendously talented saxophonist certainly lives up to that moniker. While seen as a forerunner of the smooth jazz movement, Boney's style of playing combines pop and RnB and his style is often seen as grittier and more textured than the easy-listening genre.

World-renowned South African singer, songwriter, activist and anthropologist Johnny Clegg broke down racial barriers and created music just as colourful as his homeland, defying apartheid by forming two high successful multi-racial bands (Juluka and Savuka) in the late 70s and 80s. Blending Western pop with the rhythms of the Zulus, Clegg, who earned the honorary nickname the White Zulu, is now saying a fond farewell on his last ever tour, entitled The Final Journey.

Releasing many records himself, he has been asked by many artists including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to produce their albums. Though he is predominantly famous for his behind the scenes work, George Clinton has also released many albums himself and his blend of funk and other styles will leave transfixed and looking for more by the end of the evening.
