16th Annual performance
Every year, 24 Hour Plays bring their brand of theatrical madness to Broadway. The show's set-up is simple: Six playwrights, six directors, twenty four actors, and a host of special musical guests are given a day to create six plays from scratch, rehearse them, and then perform them in front of the American Airlines Theater audience. It's a unique pressure-cooker experiment that puts all the artists' talents to the test, and the resulting plays often range from transcendent to...interesting.
This November Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) and Drama Desk Award winner Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds) are among the playwrights taking the plunge, while the casts include Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Justin Bartha (The Hangover), Jason Biggs (Orange is the New Black), Michael Cerveris (Fun Home), Joanna Christie (Narcos), Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Rachel Dratch (SNL) and Alicia Wit (The Walking Dead). Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra will provide the music.
