The Bear stars Eben Moss Bachrach and Jon Bernthal swap the kitchen for the stage
The Bear stars Eben Moss Bachrach and Jon Bernthal will swap the kitchen for the stage as they make their Broadway debuts in this brand new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis, with direction from Rupert Goold, based on the 1975 film of the same name, which in turn was inspired by the true story of a Brooklyn bank robbery that went awry three years earlier.
Known for their Emmy-winning roles as cousins Richie and Mikey in the hit comedy drama series The Bear, Dog Day Afternoon will be the duo's first appearance on the main stem, and they'll be playing the first time crooks Sal DeSilva (Bachrach) and Sonny Amato (Bernthal).
After being tipped off when a big cash delivery is expected at a Brooklyn bank, a group of amateur criminals decides to try their luck and swipe the payload. But almost immediately, their attempt is thrown off course, with one fleeing after losing his nerve, leaving the other two trapped in a hostage situation. As the police, the public, and the FBI descend on the building, the inexperienced pair become more and more desperate, but not before ordering pizzas and bonding with their hostages....
