What did the critics think of John Lithgow: Stories by Heart?

The two-time Tony winner John Lithgow returned to Broadway on January 11, for his one-man show John Lithgow: Stories by Heart. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, the show is scheduled for a limited engagement through March 4.
The show received mixed reviews from the critics. Variety praised the story-telling and said, ""it's hard not to choke up"". Time Out New York also gave a great review stating, ""It is a pleasant way to stay put on a winter's night"" and praised John Lithgow's storytelling skills by saying ""the heart of this show is in their telling"".
The Hollywood Reporter wasn't so keen on the show saying, ""John Lithgow: Stories by Heart smacks mainly of self-indulgence"". And AM New York said, ""It is not easy to fall in love with the show - or even sit through it without zoning out"".
It seems Lithgow's theatrical works you either get, or you don't. There's only one way to find out whether it's for you - tickets are still available!
