Dear World

It's hard not to warm to a show that suggests corporate greed and environmental destruction can be actively resisted.

The Perfect Social Commentary
New York City Center presents a modern revival of the 1969 Broadway production Dear World, an unsung classic by Jerry Herman which feels more relevant now than ever. When three greedy bankers detect crude oil underneath the beautiful Chaillot neighborhood in Paris, locals must band together to save their stomping ground.
Featuring Tony Award winner Donna Murphy as Countess Aurelia, the production is simultaneously delightful and pertinent, with the social commentary and ecological issues delivered through delightful songs and score still as pressing a matter as ever, 50 years on from its creation.
