Maitre Gims Performs In NYC for One Night Only
Much to the delight of his stateside-dwelling fans, Congolese rapper/singer songwriter Ghandi Djuna AKA Maitre Gims is bringing the heady blend of Latin grooves, African beats and hip hip hooks of his recently released third solo album Ceinture Noire to New York City's historic Irving Plaza for one special night only this Summer.
Born in Kinshasa, Djuna emigrated to Paris with his family when he was two years of age and began his foray into music in high school, where he collaborated with French underground hip hop collective Sexion d'Assaut, independently releasing solo compilations until he found mainstream success with his debut album Subliminal in 2013. The release sold over 1 million copies and transformed the rapper's status from new comer to a fully fledged force to be reckoned with in France and French-speaking countries around the world.
