Impressive acting in a new play
I was prepared to not like this play based on its length (over 3 hours with 2 intermissions), but I wound up really loving it. Yes, it's long and it took a little time for me to get into the groove of it in the first act, but then the acting and the story just grabbed me. The last act was poignant and very moving, and I'm still thinking about this play a few days later. I absolutely recommend it!
Great Premise...Too Long
I loved the storyline especially the three generations and how their stories each affected the others' lives. The actors truly brought the characters to life. I attended the preview and there were some places where it ran a little long. I enjoyed the live experience and can't wait to see it again after some development.
NEEDS TO CUT 50-75%. NO TRUE DRAMA. GOOD COMMITTED PERFORMERS.
I thought the theater space was super nice but this felt like a play by someone who does not write plays. A lot of telling and not showing. Definitely ambitious epic but I think the author needs to take a playwriting class. Maybe he will cut a lot before it opens--I saw the preview.
