Superb music and talent; hokey story
Why tell the story of Peter Noone if you're going to distort most aspects of it? You can't miss with the used in the show, and the musicians and singers are exceptional. Aside from Peter's youth, music, and association with the future greats of the British music scene, it's goofy. The idea of competing with Mick Jagger for Marianne Faithfull is silly, and the many anachronisms of the pay are annoying to anyone who remembers these times. Phrases and references, along with music that won't appear for many years to come appear throughout the show. For audience members who don't know anything about this era, they'll never know the difference, and the quality of the music is enough to carry the day. For others more savvy, they'll be rolling their eyes at the disco-era costumes and hairstyles, and the idea that the freedom of the 60s could be so perfectly choreographed. Don't get me started about the "trampoline" sex scene. The star of the show is Kyle Taylor Parker; he is amazing!!
Disappointing
Great musicians and talented performers, especially Kylie Taylor Parker. The storyline was poorly done and childish. Was hoping to hear mainly music from Beatles and Stones. Never a great fan of Herman’s Hermits whose music was featured.
Sorry, Peter
What a dreadful show. Felt like a weak original draft of a musical "based on an idea by Peter Noone" A contrived love triangle plays out to 60's tunes that seem arbitrarily injected into a story about Noone's undying love for Marianne Faithful (unidentified in script). Dialogue, esp. that of the manager, is annoying and full of "abbreviations" that need to be "explained".... Script doctor, please. Saving graces: sweet, honest performance from Erika Olson - the love interest. The talented Kyle Taylor Parker also brings the show up more than a notch. Thank you, Mr. Parker!
Horrible Production
Such a horrible production. So many negatives like poor story line. Beatles when they came out were such a disgrace. Didn't even look like just one of them. Casting was the worst I have ever seen in a play. Ed Sullivan was a real joke. Piped in music from the Papermill!
