First Look: Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter In Waiting for Godot on Broadway

Kevin, September 15th, 2025

Bill & Ted are back together!

But this time they're swapping out the time-travelling phone booth for Samuel Beckett's bleak (and brilliant) masterpiece, Waiting for Godot.

Keanu Reeves is playing Estragon and his longtime partner-in-crime Alex Winter is stepping in as Vladimir in Jamie Lloyd's much-buzzed-about new Broadway revival. The show just had its first preview at the Hudson Theatre, and the first production photos are here - moody, stark, and very, very Beckett.

The official opening night is set for Sunday, September 28, and you've only got until January 4, 2026 to catch it. (This one's a strictly limited run, so don't wait around like Godot.)

What Is The Story?

A perennial favorite largely considered one of modern theatre's best plays, Beckett's Waiting for Godot centers on the colorful conversations between two men, Vladimir and Estragon as they wait for the arrival of someone named Godot. As they perform mundane tasks and converse about a wide array of subjects from the trivial to the serious, they encounter three other characters who compound their experience of nothingness, i.e. Vladimir and Estragon keep waiting for someone who'll never show up in a theatrical limbo that poses many an empirical question but answers none.
