Hear Lea Michele Sing ‘Someone Else’s Story’ in Chess

Kevin, September 11th, 2025

Checkmate - Chess is back!

The previews are dropping like pawns! You may have heard Nicholas Christopher singing "Where I Want to Be,". Now, Lea Michele is already proving that she's a power piece with her take on "Someone Else's Story".

Previews for Chess on Broadway kick off October 15 at the Imperial Theatre, with opening night set for November 16. The run is currently booked through March 15, 2026 - but if buzz keeps building, this game may just go into overtime.

About Chess On Broadway

Michele leads as Florence Vassey, with Christopher as Anatoly Sergievsky and Tveit as Freddie Trumper - the fiery American champion.

This revival comes with a fresh playbook, with music by ABBA legends Benny Andersson and Bjrn Ulvaeus, lyrics by Tim Rice. Emmy winner Danny Strong (Hunger Games: Mockingjay) has penned a new book. Directing is Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).

For those new to the game: Chess pits East against West in the Cold War era, following an American and a Russian chess champion as they battle not just for victory on the board, but also for the same woman.
