Nicholas Christopher Makes His First Move in Chess Revival
Checkmate - the game is officially on!
Before Chess makes its long-awaited return to Broadway on November 16 at the Imperial Theatre, we've already been handed our first strategic advantage: a sneak peek at Nicholas Christopher belting out "Where I Want to Be." and it's a power move.
Christopher will star as Soviet grandmaster Anatoly Sergievsky. Tony winner Aaron Tveit takes on hot-headed American Freddie Trumper, and Lea Michele is stepping up as Florence Vassey.
What's The Story?
This revival comes with a fresh playbook, with music by ABBA legends Benny Andersson and Bjrn Ulvaeus, lyrics by Tim Rice. Emmy winner Danny Strong (Hunger Games: Mockingjay) has penned a new book. Directing is Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).

For those new to the game: Chess pits East against West in the Cold War era, following an American and a Russian chess champion as they battle not just for victory on the board, but also for the same woman.
