Let's see what the critics had to say about Monty Python's Spamalot

The revival of Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot officially opened on November 16, 2023, after beginning performances on October 30, 2023. With direction and choreography by Josh Rhodes at the helm, Monty Python's Spamalot is based on the famed comedy troupe's 1975 film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. The critics have had their say - see below for what they thought of this modern Broadway classic!

"In this new staging, director-choreographer Josh Rhodes squeezes every drop of talent out of his all-star cast of comedy heavy hitters." - Broadway News

"all-star cast of comedy heavy hitters"

"Perhaps most satisfying about Spamalot is how it differs from other movie-to-stage adaptations in landing every punchline even for those who know what's coming." - Deadline

"The show-stealing performance comes from Kritzer, whose baroque riffs and flawless comic timing make her an ideal Lady of the Lake. Every shady side-eye sends a wave of laughter through the audience"TheatreMania

"Every shady side-eye sends a wave of laughter through the audience"

"It asks very little of you over the course of 2 hours, 20 minutes, and sends you on your way with a smile and when it comes to musical comedy, that's perfectly delightful." - TheatreMania

"sends you on your way with a smile"

"The other strength of Spamalot is that it gives every one of its principal cast members a chance to shine. And shine they do." - TheatreGuide

What is the story?

Irreverent, surreal, and ridiculous in only the way Monty Python can be, Arthur's adventure sees him recruiting a bunch of Knights and taking on many challenges, including sating a murderous rabbit, pleasing mysterious knights pre-occupied with shrubberies, and battling an adversary more interested in winning than the location of his limbs, and much more! Add some hilarious songs to the mixture and you've got yourself a musical because these knights of the round table will dance whenever they're able!
