Adapted from Michael Morpurgo's devastating book
Based on the book by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, Private Peaceful is an elegiac and heartbreaking look at the senselessness of war. The story opens with Private 'Tommo' Peaceful awaiting death by firing squad for refusing to follow the orders of his commanding officer during WW1. As his fate draws ever closer, we flashback to scenes from his past, including his teenage years in a quiet English village, and his time spent knee deep in mud in the trenches.
Private Peaceful has previously played the West End, the Bristol Old Vic and the Edinburgh fringe. In 2004 it was adapted for the silver screen, with Jack O'Connell among the cast.
