4/16/2022 We LOVED this show!
The iconic Billy Crystal truly delivered, as did the entire cast!
Crystal’s comedic timing was flawless. The musical numbers were incredibly entertaining! Add singing to Crystal’s list of talents. What a night! We were treated to show biz greatness!
Didn’t want it to end!
Orchestra seats, fantastic theater, very well organized and great service!
Glendon’s Tavern, a terrific restaurant next door, only opened two weeks ago. Great food, drinks and service before and after the show! Try the shrimp dumpling appetizer! The bartender made a perfect Old Fashioned!

CRISP, FUNNY, HUMAN AND POIGNANT
I saw the show just before it opened. It's been trimmed and is now crisp with rapid-fire punch lines and zippy tunes with real meaning. It's not the Great American Musical and it's not Shakespeare either, nor does it pretend to be. It's simply great fun but it's wonderfully human and poignant as well. There's a message here for everybody -- a message about family, hard work, endurance, struggle and facing life honestly and with a laugh. Sadly, some of this may be lost on those with a social media attention span. But that's their loss and an unfortunate reflection on our current state of the affairs. Simply put, no one on a Broadway stage right now is working harder or giving more of himself than Billy Crystal. And in this show he's at the top of his game in the grand tradition of so many show business troupers who came before him. And he pays homage to them. What's more, this is an ensemble effort. The entire cast is superb. THIS is entertainment. THIS is why Broadway was born!

GO, LAUGH
We went to see Billy Crystal’s new musical, Mr. Saturday Night, the day after it opened, still in previews. While much of it was wildly, roll in the aisles funny, it was also wildly uneven. I enjoyed it so much that I wish it had been better.
It’s the tale of an old, washed up comedian trying for a comeback. As such, some of the scenes are standup performances and some are backstory. Balancing the dynamic between the two threads creates most of the problems. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has some similar balance issues but gets around them by being generally funny in both threads. Not always true here as the comic is sometimes misanthropic and narcissistic.
That said, Billy Crystal is a comic genius. When this show is funny, as it often is, it soars on laughter. And when it is serious, Crystal demonstrates that he can also be a very fine actor. If you get a chance to see this, go. The good bits are worth it. Heck, just his riff on a Depends commercial is worth it.

MR SATURDAY NIGHT
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The dialogue is hilarious. The funniest part and most original was the Yiddish scatzing with audience participation. The second act had more musical numbers and it was already over 2 hours and I was fighting my eyes to stay open. I would def recommend. This world needs more comedy at this time

CRYSTAL SPARKLES
Billy is fantastic! He can sing and move well. His comedy is spot on! (At times a bit nasty but goes with the character)
The music is mostly meant but serves the story pretty well. We had a great time and really enjoyed. Billy Crystal is a NY treasure!

MR SATURDAY NIGHT
Enjoyed the show immensely as did my wife, daughter and son-in-law.Billy crystal is an Icon and fun to watch.I am an old timer and enjoyed all references to the comedians I grew up with.I think the younger generations might not enjoy it as much.Crystal’s timing was terrific.Music was just so-so.Worth seeing overall!

THE NUNS JOKE IS IN VERY POOR TASTE
The overall show was good. The depiction of dysfunctional family dynamics is what the show is really about. The jokes were for the most part Borscht Belt. if you didn't grow up in this era or are not Jewish, or from New York City, there are many you won't get. This show is decidedly New York. It won't go over well in Des Moines. It probably isn't meant to. The nuns joke is especially loathsome, unfunny, offensive and in bad taste. It should be removed from the show.. No loss.

SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A MUSICAL
Saw the show. The dialogue is great but every time there was comedic momentum they broke out into a song. The songs were horrible. The lyrics were forced and as if written fit a high school production. And the only one with a decent voice was Chasten something who played the agent.
It also was too long. This should have been a 2 hour play NOT a nearly 3 hour musical!

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
Saw this show tonight. 10 mi utes in I was getting antsy in my seat. Script was predictable, slow at times, and didn’t warrant a Broadway stage. It’s about a Jewish washed up comedian trying to make a comeback. Meh!

DON’T BOTHER
Love Billy Crystal but he should stick to Stand up comedy. Blechhhh. Tedious. Boring. Silly. Don’t waste your time or money.

NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY
Maybe we missed an inside joke, but as 30-and-40-something’s, we felt half a century too young to be amused by this show. Slow pacing, jokes that fell flat. Umpteen breaks for applause for the stars- one wonders if this show was made as an excuse for the real star to be in the Broadway spotlight once more, not unlike his character. I can’t speak for the entire show as we (discretely) exited at a scene break sometime before intermission, but they lost us only a few scenes in. For me, I’ll stick to Billy’s older movies; the theme of “washed up old performer trying to regain his fame” hit a little too close to home for laughs. On to the next ..

NOT WORTH THE MONEY NOR TIME
I don't find most of the jokes funny maybe because of the age gap but if this is a comedy musical on Broadway they should be able to make everyone laugh regardless of the age differences. Two girls that are my age left during intermission so I think that really prove my point. I felt like it is more like a fan meeting for people to meet Billy Crystal, people that are laughing to the jokes are mainly in their 50s or 60s. As a musical the songs are terrible and it does not have to be a musical. And the show time is toooo long I kept checking time to see when this is going to end and it seems it will take forever.

BORING AND TOO LONG
There were a few funny lines and some people did laugh more than others. I thought it was way to long should a have been 90 minutes at most and I did not find that much of it funny. Don’t wast your time or money. See something else.

VERY LONG AND DATED PLAY WITH AWFUL SONGS.
Billy Crystal is like an old time catskills performer. The show looks and sounds like something from a Catskills hotel or cruise ship. The songs were awful. It could have been so much better, but the show just goes on and on. Avoid and save your money.
