I did not want to miss the play, but my schedule only allowed me a day to fly to New York (a one day turn around) and see the play during the "preview
performance" Saturday evening, March 22nd! I was "cautiously optimistic" that the "previews" could only get better the closer it got to opening
night! -- but, you know, I truly was like "hmmm preview - I don't know"! Well. I thought to myself as I sat solo, and watched - Ms. LaTanya Jackson - God
did that thang --- you were superb!!! I love Dianahh Carroll, but it's your season - the one day trip did not disappoint during previews!!! Mr. Washington,
and to the others - equal kudos.... Whatever happened to a dream deferred .. No short changes during previews - no dream deferred here!!! The
symbolism behind that play forever keeps me humble - best wises as you all prepare for your run - GE guarantees no less than an ovation nightly!!!

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN A BRILLIANT BROADWAY PLAY
What a treat it was to see Denzel Washington performing live on stage. I had to pinch myself at the privilege. What was amazing, was that he didn't outshine the
other cast members. They were equally as brilliant and made up a powerful broadway ensemble. The story was real, touching and emotionally charged. Instead
of it dragging you down and being too heavy, the acting and the humor kept it alive. This was one of the best broadway shows I have seen. If you can get tickets,
hurry up, they are selling fast and you'll be sorry if you miss this one.

AMAZING!!!
This was truly the best show I've been to. Denzel and the rest of the cast was simply electrifying.

BROADWAY AT ITS FINEST
An amazing performance from an amazing cast.Broadway has never looked better. Denzel pours his heart and soul into his character as does everyone else. Sean Patrick Thomas was outstanding in his role. Definitely worth the price of admission....and then some.

LORRAINE HANSBERY IS SMILING!
An overall great performance. The cast was exceptional. I knew the work of most of the actors and for some reason seeing them perform live made A Raisin in the Sun their best work yet . I am a huge Denzel fan and I appreciated the fact that he allowed the other actors to shine. The story line applies to any family in present times regardless to race or socio-economic status. What's happens to a dream deferred?

YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED !
The cast did an amazing job! Denzel 's performance was outstanding. after
seeing the play once before , this time definitely topped the first time. If you buy
a ticket you won't be disappointed. It's like seeing him act in a movie but in real
life . The other cast members did a great job also. The play is a must see.

OUTSTANDING!
The play was OUTSTANDING! I laughed, I cried, I recited some of the lines along with the performers. Denzel was an excellent choice to play Walter Lee and LaTonya Richardson-Jackson was an excellent
choice to play Lena. I could not visualize Diahann Carole as Lena, too proper speaking. It's almost like someone reciting "In the Mornin" by Paul Laurence Dunbar who does not possess a down home
dialect,
Lol. The director, Kenny Leon gave me his autograph and he was EXTREMELY humble and polite as well as Mrs. LaTonya Richardson-Jackson who gave me an autograph the next day when I went back to
the
theater hoping to get Denzel's autograph, which I'm told he does not sign autographs before the performance. But I got a glimpse of him as he swiftly got out the the car and walked into the open door next
to the theater. I LOVED, LOVED the play and Lorraine Hansberry is smiling down on the cast from heaven and saying "Well Done".

A MUST SEE
All the actors were excellent and worked together superbly. The only problem was the guy behind me laughing so loud I couldn't hear the next line. Laugh
quietly if possible :):)

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL,
This was our end of the school year celebration (Memphis , TN). Denzel was awesome and should have been a Tony Award nominee. Great play.

THE BEST PLAY EVER!!!
Denzel was spectacular in this play! With all the talk of him being too old to play Walter Lee Younger, people must realize that Walter Lee has no age
limit. Thank you Denzel Washington for an amazing performance!!!

A DREAM COME TRUE
Denzel Washington is my favorite actor and when I found out he was starring in the play "A
Raisin in the Sun" I said this is the closest I will get to Denzel. I planned a sisters trip and we
bought the tickets and I was anxious up to the day to see the play. I traveled from Florida to
New Jersey. .then to NYC. The entire cast did not disappoint. The play was excellent and we
thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. When the cast stepped forward to bow..the audience gave a
standing ovation. When it was Denzel's turn..there was so much screaming. Whistling..loud
clapping. .I was so overwhelmed. .I started crying tears of joy..My face was streaming with
tears..but I accomplished my dream to see my favorite man in person. And I snapped a great
picture of Denzel going into the stage door. I am just so happy. Thanks again Denzel for
making this happen. Love you always. .

GREAT, BUT......
A fabulous experience. So happy my husband and I got to see this show. I can't
get out of my head that Denzel is too old to play Walter Lee.

GREAT CLASSIC BROADWAY PLAY, WITH A GREAT CAST
I just saw it a couple days ago, on a Saturday evening preview showing. Granted, 99% of the reason I bought the tickets was to see Denzel Washington, but I was surprised to be so impressed with the rest of the cast - especially the sister (Anika Noni Rose). I was not familiar with the story at all, prior to seeing the play, aside from a wikipedia type summary I read online, but I guess I'm glad I read that, because (as a 40 year-old white guy), I had a little trouble understanding what was going on, because of the fast-paced dialog and urban slang of the 1950's, which everyone seemed to pull off perfectly, since several funny lines went completely over my head while the black people in the audience laughed at:them, and people like me just laughed along with them, to pretend we got the joke:). The only complaint I had was the fact that our seats were in the upper mezzanine. Good weekend seats under $400 are hard to find, so I would go during the week, and get better seats next time.

IMPRESSIVE
The actors were nothing short of impressive. The talent and hard work of the
cast combined with Denzel Washington is a formula for an impressive and
memorable show. I recommend this show to anyone who appreciates a great
cast and passionate acting. The seating throughout the theater was superior and
my tickets on the 11th row were worth every penny. I would love to take my
mom to enjoy this show. Great dining was within three blocks of the theater.

:(
I was disappointed at the preview last night 3/11/14. At first I thought my disappointment was due to me comparing the original cast to this cast, but that wasn't really it. I felt like Denzel was uninterested
and full of himself. It just seemed watered down.

GOOD SUPPORTING ACTORS!
I saw the play 4/12. Denzel was lackluster. He did seem like he did not have to act but just because of who he is strut back and forth on stage. I agree with other review, he was too old to play the Younger character. Ms. Jackson was the best thing in the play and the sister character. There was no spark between Denzel and the wife character. Would not recommend anyone wasting their money; No one can replace Ruby Dee and Sydney P... They had more passion for what they were doing back then.
