ENGAGING AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING

THE WINNING SIDE is an intelligent, challenging, gripping play! Wallert does a fantastic job of posing ethical questions surrounding not only science but art and humanity. Though the play is about a historically charming Nazi, it doesn’t empathize with him. A tricky balance to strike that Epic does. I loved the play and how it moves from two directions in time, like an engine, to the moment Von Braun was brought to America. Very smart. This is a SMART piece that is also sexy and emotionally engaging. Sullivan Jones gives a subtle and poignant performance as the lead. LOVED this casting choice. In general, I loved that black actors were playing historically white people. It felt like Epic was challenging is to question our own ethics! Because why not? It’s not like a white people IS going to be JFK, one suspends their disbelief for that, why not for a POC? Again, this added to my enjoyment of the play. Interesting design, especially projections. There are some clunky bits with that, but, honestly, I didn’t care. This is an important play and you should see it!
