American Son - a Wow performance.
Non stop, nodding my head to see a panicked Mom in such pain and dread. A great night of real theater. Many best wishes for a successful run.
American son
This play is not for the faint of heart. It is tense, sharp, current and demands your undivided attention. The characters are well defined buy the actors and you find your empathies vacillating between all four. Here there is no right or wrong, good or bad - these qualities lies within each one of the characters. Kerry Washington portrays Kendra with a mixture of. pride and fear - Steven Pasquale's Scott alternately pulls you in and pushes you away. The two policemen are equally well cast, but Eugene Lee is particularly brilliant as officer Stokes. I left the theater quite exhausted by the volatility of my own emotions brought forth by this play. Don't miss it.
