Dolls House 2
Period costumes but modern vernacular. Clever sequel to Ibsens classic. Metcalf and Cooper's stunning acting reveals the difficulties of reconciling individual integrity within marriage's confines. Pair this play with Significant Other for a comprehensive /contrasting view of both the joys and pitfalls of marriage, and the need for independennce/self identity vs. loneliness of single life. Although my head engaged with Dolls House 2, and there were wise /funny lines, my heart didn't engage in the same way as Significant Other. No tears were shed for this one. And yes, I'm divorced., yet unlike Nora, it took MORE than 2 years for those voices of " others telling me what to do" to disappear. Thoroughly enjoyed the play.
