A-list Hollywood star George Clooney makes his Broadway debut in this stage adaption of the 2005 Oscar-nominated movie Good Night, and Good Luck' (directed by Clooney himself).
Set against the backdrop of the 1950s, the play chronicles the daring endeavors of legendary broadcaster Edward Murrow and his producer Fred Friendly as they challenge the intimidation tactics of Senator McCarthy. Despite facing resistance from CBS and the constraints imposed by sponsors, Murrow confronts the establishment to unmask the falsehoods propagated in McCarthy's anti-communist crusade.
The black-and-white movie garnered widespread acclaim and secured an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. Clooney, who originally portrayed Fred Friendly, will transition to the pivotal role of Edward Murrow for the stage rendition.
The play will be directed by Tony-winner David Cromer (The Sound Inside, The Band's Visit) and is based on the original screenplay co-written by George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The show will premiere in the spring of 2025 at the Shubert Theatre.
