World Premiere
The creative partnership behind 2010's hit show Bachelorette return to the Second Stage Theatre with a world premiere. Written by Lelsye Headland and directed by Trip Cullman (Roundabout's Significant Other), Layover, which closes out the 2015/16 mainstage season, is a dark comedy centered on two strangers on a delayed Thanksgiving night flight.
A writer renowned for expertly marrying no-holds barred raunch with genuine heart, Headland was one of the minds behind FX's cult and sadly short-lived show Terriers, and made her directorial debut with her own film adaptation of Bachelorette in 2012.
What is Layover About?
It's a snowy Thanksgiving night and Shellie and Dex find themselves sitting next to each other on a delayed flight. Throwing caution to the wind, they dispense with the small talk and begin asking those questions you've always wanted to ask a complete stranger. But delving headlong into each other's secrets and buried traumas reveals more than they have ever anticipated.
