Jefferson Starship and Jazz is Dead lead this 60's tribute concert
A host of artists come together at the NYCB Theatre in honor of two of American rock's most influential groups. Both formed in 1965, Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead were at the forefront of the San Francisco Sound, a heady mixture of jazz-influenced psychadelic rock and improvisation, heavily tied to the counterculture movement, that produced some of the greatest music of the decade.
Leading this special tribute concert is Jefferson Starship, who were formed by a number of former Jefferson Airplane members in the early 1970s. They'll be joined by Jazz is Dead, an instrumental Grateful Dead cover band, who re-formed this year after a decade long hiatus in honour of this anniversary.
