Why See ?

What A Glorious Feeling, I'm Happy Again

Swing into the warmer months with the New York Philharmonic's extra special Spring Gala screening of the 1952 feature film classic Singin' In The Rain. Film composer extraordinaire David Newman leads the ensemble through L. Hayton's arrangement of N.H. Brown's legendary score whilst golden era icons Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds sing and tap-dance their way back to happiness.

A pure joy from start to finish, Singin in the Rain is a colourful whirl of tap dancing, ballet, and Golden Age Hollywood glamour. The musical begins with the film industry transitioning out of the silent era and into the "talkies". We follow the blossoming romance between leading man Don, and a dulcet-toned jobbing actress called Kathy who's hired to dub over his on-screen partner's awful singing voice. The ebullient tuner is packed with musical theatre classics like  'Make em Laugh', 'Moses Supposes', and of course the iconic title track, whose puddle-splashing dance sequence lives on in popular culture today.
