Sean Jones Leads The NYO Jazz Inaugural Concert
Celebrate the bright future of jazz at the Weill Music Institute's NYO Jazz inaugural performance. Launching in the Summer of 2018, the Carnegie Hall endorsed, 4 week-long Summer program fosters and showcases the astounding talents of young American jazz maestros from ages 16 to 19. Internationally acclaimed trumpeter Sean Jones, creative adviser to the course, will lead the big band's debut at the historic venue, which will also include performances by world class trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and Grammy-winning jazz singer Dianne Reeves.
Making the most of an exciting opportunity for the country's most gifted instrumentalists to learn from respected jazz artists, make music together and embark on a European tour of international festivals and countries including Netherlands, Britain and Germany, the NYO Jazz ensemble will perform a dynamic varied program of American music from big band icons Duke Ellington and Count Baisie through to modern hip hop and R&B.
