The long-awaited New York residency!
Since his portrayal of the psychotic Tybalt in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+ Juliet, John Leguizamo's love of both Shakespeare and the theater has seen him rise through the ranks of Hollywood to become a successful screenwriter, playwright and stand-up comedian. His latest theatrical project sees a family-friendly, exuberant spin on one of Shakespeare's most famous tragedies, portrayed by rappers GQ and JQ and their three-supporting actors. Following a short run in London, the show is headed back Stateside for a highly anticipated four-month run.
What is this about?
With the dialogue reworked to keep in time with the team's lyrical beats, The Q Brothers offer up their unique take on this iconic tale of betrayal, jealousy and self-doubt. Using their own style of hip-hop rapping, this show goes the distance in proving that Shakespeare himself was the original creator of rhythm! The show first premiered in 2012 at the London Cultural Olympics to both critical and popular acclaim, and has since toured the world, proving that the works of Shakespeare is still alive in the hearts and minds of both Bard lovers and literary students everywhere.
