Sanaz Toossi's Pulitzer-winning play English heads to Broadway in 2025! A moving comedy set in Iran, the play follows four adults studying for a test in the English language, which for them could open the door to freedom and a future. Award-winning Iranian-American playwright Toossi is a rising star in theatre, with this and her previous effort Wish You Were Here setting the stage for an exciting career as one of the new greats.
Humorously exploring the nuances in language which native speakers often are oblivious to, English finds the characters preparing for a new future whilst tackling the subtleties which could hinder their ability to express themselves. Winner of Outstanding Play at the 2022 Lucille Lortel Awards, Toossi's offering has garnered wide critical acclaim and is not to be missed.
