Dominican Bachata music legend Anthony Santos AKA el Mayimbe (the boss) is considered to be the artist who brought the traditional music form to the mainstream. The beloved bachatero updated the folk blues tradition with a modern sound, introducing the electric guitar and replacing the original form's bawdier lyrics with charming romantic poetry. Don't miss the iconic performer when he comes to a city near you!
Since his debut in 1989, Santos has gone from strength to strength, with career highlights including a stint playing guira for Luis Vargas and solo triumphs with hit songs Voy Pa Lla, How Many More and I Die For You amongst others. Blending soulful ballads with up tempo dance hall grooves and heady tropical rhythms, the veteran showman knows how to get an audience on their feet dancing, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and prepare for a night of old school romance!
