TWO DIVERGENT APPROACHES

TFF replicated their recordings almost note-for-note, and H&O jammed on theirs, with extended sections for Hall to emote vocally. Many comments about how poor the H&O mix was compared to TFF. My take is that H&O had far more musicians on the stage: 3 guitars, 2 percussion (1 by saxophonist), everyone with a vocal mic. They were going for something much less focused and exacting than TFF. Probably more effects used than needed. Although singing along to what may as well be an MP3 of the original track gratifies one's musical expectations, I have to say I respect the H&O approach more. TFF's material is more directly powerful, and H&O's is more subtle. In all, the energetic shift between the two was too much for a lot of folks. H&O seemed like they would have been better suited for a more laid back setting than is offered by an arena with tens of thousands of fans who have overpaid for their tickets, and expect to be absolutely blown away by the lights, sounds, songs, & delivery
