Set in Washington DC, Jake Tapper's debut novel The Hellfire Club is set in the corrupt world of American politics. It's not exactly ripped from today's headlines though, because it's set in 1954. A thoroughly researched tale of backroom dealings, it's set against the backdrop of the Red Scare, and follows an academic who gets swept up in a web of murder and intrigue.
The erstwhile CNN correspondent man sits down with late night king Stephen Colbert to discuss the book, and some more contemporary political matters might just come up too...
