BERGEN PAC CONCERT REVIEW 5/2

I was so looking forward and excited for this concert at the Bergen PAC in Englewood on 5/2. The place was packed- nearly sold out. All ready to jam to the classics. What a disappointment the concert was! The sound was absolutely horrible and Todd played for over 2 hours w/ songs that were not familiar AT ALL. He played NO classic hits until literally the last 5 minutes of this LONG nite. “See the light” and a very short version of “Can we be friends”. Literally 5 minutes of playing combined these 2 songs. He did not play Hello it’s me or Bang the drums all day. What was he thinking? A fan sitting next to me who was also disappointed said it was all his new studio work. It was sort of a waste of money and time. I felt let down. 🙁

PLAY YOUR CROWD

Review from 5-3-24: Harrah's, Atlantic City, NJ. If you are seeing Todd for his hits, sit this one out. He only played a five minute medley of "I Saw the Light", "Can We Still Be Friends" and "Hello It's Me" for the encore in which about 10% of the crowd cheered for. Every other song was only known by his hardest core fans. No "Bang on a Drum." No "We Gotta Get You a Woman". No "It Wouldn't Have Made any Difference." Ironically, it would have made a difference if he played his hits. The septuagenarians in the crowd complained as they left the theater. Some colorful language in the men's room about the setlist was the highlight of the night. Save your money and time for someone who reads the room.

HOW DO I GET MY MONEY BACK?

Admittedly not a die hard fan. But could you give me one familiar song in the first hour instead of the wretched screaming of songs that sounded the same? First concert ever that compelled me to walk out halfway through. I was not alone.

DISAPPOINTED AND FEELING LIKE HE WAS LECTURING TO US

A very disappointing show. Todd has been a favorite for years but last night did not work. Nothing familiar was played, nothing. It was two hours of “new” stuff. It was dull, and it was as though he was pontificating quite a bit. He seemed tired and angry at the crowd. I went to the show hoping to be entertained for two hours instead we were all dragged into our problems as a nation apparently, but he didn’t have to make it part of the show. Also, he went on about religion and even sang “good old-time religion”, and this is Charleston South Carolina so a lot of people walked out on that. I am not a religious freak. I don’t care what he says, but a lot of people did. It was difficult to sit through the whole show. Even when we tried to hear the words to the songs, it could not be done. He’s not washed up, but unfortunately new songs to him are just noises to most of us. When Todd says he’s working on something new he’s experimenting and if last night was an experiment I’m not not into it.

SO DISAPPOINTING- I WON’T BE BACK

Have been a fan for 50 years but this was one of the most boring concerts I ever saw. Nothing we knew till the encore and that was a very short medley. The crowd went wild but quickly realized he was not enjoying it and wasn’t doing more. He may be tired of singing Hello It’s Me but that is what the audience paid to hear. If you are an aging rock musician and you want us to spend money to see you, then play what we came for.

MAY 22- FORT LAUDERDALE THEATER- SO DISAPPOINTED!

My three friends and I grew up listening to Todd- Obviously he did the same crappy show that the other reviewers were complaining about! Two hours of songs No One Knew- the crowd was literally falling asleep! Then he “Tries” to do Rap Music and we’re all looking at each other- Sorry Todd try another genre! Wish I saved the money- obviously he needs to pay his mortgage! This tour was NOT FOR THE AUDIENCE! Really Sad ….
