Why See Lyle Lovett And His Large Band?
Country legend and very proud Texan Lyle Lovett is heading out on tour this year with his large band. What's the difference between a big band and a large band? Well, while the be-quiffed, multi-Grammy Award winning singer may exhibit more than his fair share of jazz and swing influences, he's never really performed a 'Big Band' sound.
So, to avoid confusion, his band (which consists of quite a few players) has been branded as 'large'. Whatever the terminology, Lyle Lovett never fails to impress, drawing on a catalogue reaching back some 35 years. He'll be playing everything from his signature tune Cowboy Man to choice cuts from Release Me, his collection of covers from 2010.
Performance date: 17 August 2014
