World Premiere
The new work from Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn (Proof) has it world premiere this November at New York City Center Stage 1. Playing a strictly limited engagement, Lost Lake follows two troubled souls who are in search of some meaning to their lives. Described by its author as a "melancholy comedy", it's a witty two hander which sees David Auburn reuniting with director Daniel Sullivan, who earned a Tony Award for helming Proof.
Making his New York stage debut as Hogan is indie film darling John Hawkes. Nominated for an Oscar for his turn in 2010's Winter's Bone, he's since won acclaim for performances in Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Sessions. His co-star is Tracie Thoms, in the role of Veronica. A prolific star of stage and screen, she was last seen treading the boards in 2011's Stick Fly, while her big screen credits include Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof and the upcoming remake of Annie.
What is Lost Lake About?
Veronica is in search of a secluded getaway for a city break and rents out a lakeside cabin for her and her children. The owner of the cabin, the slightly dishevelled Hogan, seems to want to stick around for her stay. Both Veronica and Hogan discover that they're at somewhat of a crossroads in their lives, and together they may be able to help one another through the challenges that each is facing.
