Two greats of the cartooning world
Matt Groening and Lynda Barry met in 1975. He was the editor of the student paper at Evergreen State College, and she was a contributing cartoonist. Nearly 40 years later, and the two are still firm friends. Oh, and they're also two of the nation's greatest living cartoonists.
Barry is best known for her densely plotted weekly strip Ernie Pook's Comeek, and graphic novels such as The Good Times are Killing Me, which deftly explored a mixed race friendship in 1960's America. Matt Groening is the creator of a little known TV programme called The Simpsons, which stands as maybe the most important (and beloved) shows of all time.
Groening and Barry will discuss all things comic and the seperate paths that their two careers have taken over the years. A must for any fan of intelligent and thought-provoking pop culture, the event take place on Feburary 12th at the Gilman Opera House.
