See in the spring in style with the NYCB
Led by the frenetic urban energy of Jerome Robbins' Glass Pieces, the NYCB's annual celebration of Americana continues apace this year. Alongside Robbins' tribute to the metropolis is Thou Swell, a glittering work, harking back to the glamourous cafe society of the golden age with it's art deco flourishes and romantic Richard Rodgers score. Finishing the evening is George Balanchine's patriotically triumphant Stars and Stripes, a delightfully All-American feast, with exuberant dancers filling the stage, resplendent in Karinska's eye-catching costumes.
