Exhilarating with high energy!
Last seen in ABT's 75th anniversary gala last year, The Brahms-Haydn Variations, a dazzling large-cast classical ballet from award-winning choreographer Twyla Tharp, incorporating the music Variations on a Theme by Haydn for Orchestra. With dancers arranged in a powerful choreographic counterpoint, the ensuing vision that fills the stage looks just like a kaleidoscope of action.
Starting with a thirty-strong ensemble march, the dancing casually takes place rather than over-egging the pudding, whittling down the dancers into a tender pas de deux by the end of the 21-minute run.
