Mozart's final Requiem has intrigued listeners since it first premiered over two hundred years ago. Unfinished upon his death, it was through his wife's promotion that the mythical piece finally reached the public. Full of haunting emotion and humanity, it is captivating and an example of a magnificent talent undiminished even in the face of the famed composer's own mortality.
As well as renditions of the composer's Ave Verum Corpus and Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina's haunting Viola Concerto, don't miss this thrilling rendition from the New York Philharmonic, led by conductor Jaap Van Zweden in one of his final performances with the orchestra.
