World Premiere
After triumphing at the Williamstown Theatre Festival earlier this year, Abe Koogler's Kill Floor makes its Off-Broadway debut as part of Lincoln Center's LTC3 season. Centering on a former prisoner's difficult transition back to life outside the prison walls, it's a moving portrait of people rebuilding relationships that have lain dormant for so long. In the lead role of Andy is Tony nominee Marin Ireland (Reasons to be Pretty), while Natalie Gold (Love & Other Drugs) and Danny McCarthy (Prison Break) are also among the cast.
Kill Floor won the L. Arnold Weissbeger Award for playwriting excellence at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Lila Neugebauer, who directed the play's reading at the festival, also directs this production.
What is The Kill Floor About?
Returning to her hometown after a long spell in prison, Andy begins to rebuild her life by taking a job in the local slaughterhouse. It's a move which brings the disapproval of her teenage son (a passionate supporter of animal rights) and pushes the pair even further apart. Add to this problems with her overbearing boss, and Andy's new start proves to be a bigger challenge than she expected.
