Following up on the success of his 1993 Public musical First Lady Suite, Tony Award-nominated Michael John LaChiusa now turns his attention and imagination to the private lives and dreams of America's best-known daughters in a funny and moving new musical production. A poignant look at mother-daughter relationships, especially those who have to deal with the global spotlight, this will strike chords with everybody.
A musical in four parts, we follow the relationships between Patricia Nixon and her daughters Tricia and Julie, Roselyn and Amy Carter, Betty and Susan Ford, Patti Davis and her mother Nancy Reagan, and Barbara Bush and daughter-in-law Laura as they all strive to live in the public eye, whilst at the same time deal with relationships beyond the view on the White House lawn.
Directed by Kirsten Sanderson, this new musical features a sweeping new score, and stars Alison Fraser, Rachel Bay Jones and Caissie Levy plus more Broadway regulars!
