Little Shop of Horrors To Release Cast Recording

The off-Broadway hit continues at the Westside Theater!

The off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors has announced that they will be releasing an Original Cast Recording, featuring Jonathan Groff, Tammy Blanchard and Christian Borle! The production, which opened in October, is currently playing an extended run through to March 8.

The current cast includes Jonathan Groff as Seymour, Tammy Blanchard as Audrey, Christian Borle as Orin Scrivello D.D.S, Kingsley Leggs as Audrey II, Tom Alan Robbins as Mushnik, Ari Groover as Ronnette, Salome Smith as Crystal and Joy Woods as Chiffon.

Jonathan Groff will be departing the production on January 20 when Gideon Glick, who stepped into the role for Groff's two-week holiday from the show back in November, takes over the role of Seymour full time.

Directed by Michael Mayer this revival features music by Alan Menken a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and choreographed by Ellenore Scott.

What is Little Shop of Horrors about?

As the dejected Seymour languishes in the floral shop on the down-and-out street of Skid Row he discovers a strange new plant... Affectionately naming it "Audrey II" after his crush at the shop, Seymour is shocked to find that his unusual plant has developed a soulful singing voice, a potty mouth, and an unquenchable thirst for human blood.

As Audrey II grows bigger and bigger, and its thirst for blood becomes unrelenting, the carnivorous plant promises a lifetime of fame and fortune to Seymour, as long as he continues providing a fresh supply of the red stuff. Just when it's too late, Seymour discovers Audrey II's extra-terrestrial origins and its drive for complete world domination.

Little Shop of Horrors is now playing Upstairs at Westside Theater until March 8, 2020.
