The brand new Michael Jackson, MJ The Musical, has found its leading star in the Tony-nominated Ephraim Sykes. The production is set to begin previews at the Neil Simon Theater on July 6 2020 with the opening night scheduled for August 13.
Sykes currently stars in Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations and garnered a Tony nomination for his portrayal of David Ruffin.
With Jackson's plethora of moon-walking hits in tow, MJ the Musical is set to explore the star's life and his stratospheric rise to fame. The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage have partnered on the project, with two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined) set to pen the book. Christopher Wheeldon will direct the production.
