What Did The Critics Think of David Byrne's American Utopia?

Now playing at the Hudson Theatre

'70s New-Wave icon David Byrne has turned his talent to Broadway in his brand new theater-concert production, American Utopia. But, what did the critics think of Byrne's new production?

The New York Times praised the production, saying, "This jubilant production, choreographed by Annie-B Parson, transforms an icon of alienation into a cosmically cozy senior statesman."

Variety continued the praise with, "David Byrne's 'American Utopia' is a stunning - and surprisingly political - Tour de Force." Rolling Stone also mirrored these sentiments, dubbing it as "A heady swirl of hope for our anxious times" before continuing with "The concert-theater-dance spectacle on Broadway finds solace in human connections -  with plenty of drum beats."

The Hollywood Reporter dubbed the production as a "knockout" before continuing with "The many critics and fans who suggested the tour might be the best live rock rock show of all time weren't exaggerating."

American Utopia is now playing at the Hudson Theatre through to January 19.
