Michael C. Hall returns to the stage this winter as he stars in the Pulitzer Prize finalist monologue by Will Eno, Thom Pain (based on nothing). Scheduled to run through to December 2, what did the critics think of this latest revival?
Time Out New York said that 'Eno's text is a wonderfully light thing... Michael C. Hall performs Eno's script with immense charm (if not danger), but it's a piece that requires the intimacy of a mind moving very close to yours'.
The Wrap called the piece a 'thrilling revival', continuing with 'Hall commands the stage'. Vulture said that 'The pleasure of the production is watching Hall in moments of simple, full presence'.
The production has been previously dubbed as a ""small masterpiece"" (The New York Times) and ""one of the best monologues I've ever seen"" (The Guardian). Directed by Oliver Butler this legacy production of Thom Pain (based on nothing) tells the story on one man's quest to save his own life, or at least make it one worth dying for.
Thom Pain (based on nothing) is now playing at the Irene Diamon Stage at the Signature Theatre through to December 2.
