What did Critic's think of Be More Chill?

Be More Chill, the highly anticipated musical, celebrated its official opening Off-Broadway last night. Based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, Be More Chill received rather mixed reviews off critics. Here's what they had to say:

The Wall Street Journal praised the musical, stating it was a 'delight, a tale of social anxiety whose pop-rock score, written by Joe Iconis, is unfailingly lively and fresh'. AM New York also praised the score, saying it was the 'finest score to date'. And Broadway Blog celebrated Mr. Roland, who went from being a supporting role in the original cast of Dear Evan Hansen to taking center stage in Be More Chill - 'He anchors the 10-member ensemble with a humorous, emotionally charged performance'.

But not everyone had the same opinions on Be More Chill, Curtain Up said it was 'A lengthy and labored Halloween bash, however, gets tiresome pretty quickly'. And The New York Times said it felt like 'a members-only club for those caught in the hellish here-and-now of the middle teens.'
