His list of influences include Yes and Pink Floyd, with whom he performed with in London following his 1969 exile for satirising the Brazilian Military Government. His most recent record celebrated the legacy of Brazilian music's other famous Giberto (Joao Gilberto) with a record of bossa nova rhythms.
