Bullets Over Broadway

Bullets Over Broadway at St James Theater

Why see Bullets Over Broadway?

Bullets Over Broadway is a six-time Tony nominated musical production of Woody Allen's iconic film of the same name. It tells the darkly comic story of an aspiring playwright who is forced to cast the talentless girlfriend of a local mobster in order to have see his play ever reach the stage.

The musical stars Zach Braff (of the hit TV show Scrubs) in his Broadway debut, alongside Three-time Tony-nominee Marin Mazzie, Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) and Brooks Ashmanskas. The musical will be directed by five time Tony Award winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman.

What A Show!

Bullets Over Broadway has that certain pizazz and sparkle that comes to mind when you think of a big broadway show. The set and costuming we're elaborate and beautiful to see, complimenting the outstanding performances by the actors. My personal favorite parts of the show included the cleverly choreographed, acrobatic dance numbers by the gangsters and the always impressive large group tap number "Tain't Nobody's Business if I do". ... Fabulous Reminder that Theater can be Fun!

We went during first week of previews. A few numbers were too long and the 1st act is much better than the 2nd. (Much of the 2nd act could be cut, and a potentially fun plotline with warring gangstas is dropped too early.) With those caveats in mind - loved the show. The costumes, the dancing, the sets - it's a lovely, glittery distraction. After editing, it should be a great show. ( and in a dream world, bobby canavale would play cheech.) ... Read more
