An examination into the search for answers following personal struggles, Bock's new play centers on a newly single man who turns to astrology to make sense of his life, following the end of another failed relationship.

Obie Award-winning playwright Bock has been behind some of the best new sleeper hit plays of recent years including "A Small Fire", "The Receptionist" and "Swimming in the Shallows"; "A Life" will be directed by Anne Kauffman, who has previously helmed works including Detroit and Smokefall. Leading the cast is Tony Award-winning actor David Hyde Pierce, who in addition to his hugely successful acting and directing turns on and off-Broadway and elsewhere, is best-known for his Emmy-winning tenure on Frasier. In A Life, he plays lead Nate Martin, who, fed up after a lifetime of unsuccessful love affairs, turns to astrology in a last-ditch bid to command his own fate. However his charts give him a most unexpected, and shocking answer.
