Fast, furious and unstoppable - this Macbeth [knocks] the breath out of everyone, audience included.

The New York Times

Why See Macbeth?

Macbeth as You've Never Seen Him Before

After receiving rave reviews in 2012 by the New York Times, this thrilling production will be re-staged for the Wade Thompson Drill Hall to combine both incredible vision and an unconventional approach with the Armory's unique space and military history to allow you to relive this timeless story in a powerful new way.

Kenneth Branagh makes his highly anticipated New York stage debut - as well as the first Shakespearean role in over a decade - alongside taking a seat in the director's chair. He stars as Macbeth alongside Alex Kingston as Lady Macbeth, who will also be making her New York stage debut. In addition to the creative talents of the costume, set and make-up designers, directors Rob Ashford and Branagh will be working with a specialised fight director as well as an illusion consultant.

An Immersive Shakespeare Experience

The original Manchester (UK) Festival production took place in a deconsecrated church, with audience members sitting on real pews. This New York production strives to be just as innovative, pushing the boundaries of traditional theatre and creating a unique immersive experience, where the blood of the battle field and unpredictable elements of nature are more than just stage effects.
