Nikolai and the Others

Nikolai and the Others at Mitzi E Newhouse Theater

Why see Nikolai and the Others?

The world premiere of this beautiful drama about dance, life and love, Nikolai and the Others was commissioned by Lincoln Center Theater. Created by playwright Richard Nelson, the play imagines the relationships between the iconic choreographers George Balanchine and Igor Stravinsky at the time of their historic collaboration on the ballet Orpheus.

The play takes place during a spring weekend in Westport, Connecticut, and also includes the Russian emigres friends, lovers, wives and ex-wives, partners, supporters and dancers. Running alongside the story, is an exploration of the controversial ways American art and artistic institutions were funded at the outset of the Cold War.

Nikolai and the Others is currently at the Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater and scheduled to run until Sunday June 16th 2013.
