A beguilingly romantic gem from Puccini is brought back to life by The Metropolitan Opera! In a co-production courtesy of Toulouse's Theatre Du Capitole and London's Royal Opera House, witness the rarely staged La Rondine, replete with its blissful score and rumination on the paths we didn't take. Conducted by Speranza Scappucci, the production features the vocal talents of soprano Angel Blue and tenor Jonathan Tetelman, as well as the first Met performances from Emily Pogorelc and Bekhzod Davronov. Is it too late to start again to find happiness, or like the Rondine (the swallow) of the title, are we destined to fly back to where we know?

What is the story?

Whilst she is at home in the glittering salons of Paris, the courtesan Magda can't help but reminisce, wistfully recalling her days footloose and fancy-free. Aided by the posturing of a poet and his sentiments on true love, she decides a trip to an old haunt might curb the nostalgia. But when the handsome young Ruggero arrives, she can't be blamed for wanting the night, and her disguise, to last forever.
